Provincetown has a new welcome and resource center for the LGBTQ community. The Shack, launched by The Provincetown Business Guild, is a community space for those visiting or living in Provincetown that are LGBTQ and allies of the community.
It showcases the significant contributions made by Provincetown’s LGBTQ community to the arts and cultural fabric of Provincetown through programs, events, workshops and exhibitions.
“We are thrilled to be opening the LGBTQ Welcome and Resource Center in Provincetown,” said Michael Kelley, Chair of Board of Directors of the Provincetown Business Guild. “The Shack will become the place to find out what’s happening in the local LGBTQ community, discover our historical impact and engage in cultural and educational events. We think it will add to our unique identity as the premier US travel destination choice for the LGBTQ community.”
The Shack’s first exhibition, “40 Years of Carnival,” is a visual, pictorial and facilitated guide through the history of one of the biggest LGBTQ events in the US, Provincetown Carnival, that has taken place every August since 1978.
The Shack was designed by Ken Fulk, nationally renowned designer of interiors, experiences and over-the-top parties from San Francisco to Miami.
