A mother in Gulfort, Mississippi called a gay bar asking for advice after her son came out.
In her 17-years of bartending, she never received a call that touched her like this one.
Kara Coley, a bartended at a Sipps, a gay bar in Gulfport, Missisippi shared her conversation she had with a mother looking for advice after her son had come out as gay.
The mom asks, “What was the one thing you wanted from your parents when you came out? My son just came out to me and I don’t want to say anything that may mess him up in the head.”
Kara told her, “Well, I think you should just make sure he knows that you love and accept – wait, do you accept it?” The mother told her that she does.
Kara continued: “You should definitely let him know that you love and accept him! I think everything will be okay from there.”
“I’ve had a few people that I grew up with ask for advice when they found out their child or child’s friend was gay, but never as random as this phone call,” Kara told the Huffington Post.
Kara applauded the mom for reaching out for advice, which shows the unconditional love that of a true mother. Kara’s post, in which she shared a transcript of the phone call, has already been shared more than 600 times and has received 3 600 reactions.
