“Love, Simon” is a new new movie about coming out and we can’t wait to see it!
“My name’s Simon, and I’m just like you – except I have one huge-ass secret… Nobody knows I’m gay.”
Simon is coming to grips with his sexuality and toying with the idea of coming out in a new romcom to be released March 2018.
The movie is based on Becky Albertalli’s 2015 novel Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda.
The coming of age coming out film is being produced for the big screen by Greg Berlanti, the producer behind gay-friendly hit shows Arrow, Flash and Riverdale.
“There’s this one section of the film where Simon imagines this one boy and imagines them kissing underneath the mistletoe at Christmas,” Berlanti told Entertainment Weekly last month. That bit you can see in the trailer.
“In every other major studio film, it’s always the guy and the girl. And there was something so powerful about it being just a guy imagining himself with this other guy in a film again that was going to be marketed and sold as a mainstream romantic comedy.”
