GROWLR, the bear social network, will begin airing live shows on its app this Thursday with everyone’s favorite furry rapper presenting his new weekly show, Big Dipper Live. It will be an hour-long interactive show with Big Dipper sharing his unique take on body positivity and digital dating.
Then, on Saturday, May 9, drag queen comedian Jackie Beat will take over the app with her hilarious one woman show, Shelter in Face, performed live from her home!
Varla Jean takes over the stand-up next Saturday, May 16, with her one-woman comedy show, performed live from her home.
All shows will air live and free of charge, on GROWLr Live, the in-app live video broadcasting feature on GROWLR.
What makes this programming different from most other performances being offered during this time of quarantine are these shows are free to viewers and they support queer artists as GROWLR isn’t asking the performers to donate their time. The app is paying them for their performances, just like a brick and mortar bar or club would do.
“LGBTQ performers are an important part of the fabric of our community. We value them as artists and are thrilled to compensate them for their participation in our programming,” says Phil Henricks, Senior Director of Marketing at GROWLr. He promises he will be announcing additional shows in the coming weeks.
GROWLr is part of The Meet Group family of apps that includes MeetMe®, LOVOO®, Skout®, and Tagged®. Download GROWLr here.
