LABoratory, the newest monthly nightlife experience by Jake Resnicow, will host a very special edition on Saturday, May 4th! In celebration of the GLAAD Awards, a portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the organization, which promotes understanding, increase acceptance, and advance LGBT equality.
DJ Lina, who is DJing the award ceremony, will give an encore performance along with rising-star Shane Marcus, celebrating his birthday.
Known for music that is soulful, beautiful, fun and happy, Lina regularly brightens global dance floors. “I’m from the school that teaches how every artist has a story to tell,” says Lina.
At the 30th annual GLAAD Media Awards, proceeding the party, the organization will recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate, and inclusive representations the LGBTQ community and the issues that affect their lives. The nominees include films such as Crazy Rich Asians, Deadpool 2, and Love Simon and video games such as Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, The Sims Mobile, and Guild Wars 2. This year’s event will be hosted by Shangela, and honor Madonna with the Advocate for Change Award and Andy Cohen for the Vito Russel Award.
LABoratory will take place on May 4th from 10:30pm to 5am at Chelsea Music Hall in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. The GLAAD Media Awards begin at 5:30pm at the New York Hilton Midtown.
“Chelsea Music Hall is a proud supporter of the local community. We stand by the GLADD mission to advance equality,” says owner Michael Ginsberg. “We welcome all big ideas to take part in the universal goal: to build our local community through a variety of all humans, music, art, film, and dance.” The venue will also be donating a portion of the bar proceeds to GLADD.
