EastSiders, the dark comedy series about Cal and Thom, a sexy gay couple trying to stay together in the aftermath of infidelity, has been nominated for 6 Daytime Emmy Awards including Outstanding Daytime Digital Drama Series.
Other nominations include Outstanding Writing & Directing for creator and star Kit Williamson, Outstanding Actor in a Digital Daytime Drama Series for dreamboat Van Hansis and Supporting Actor nominations for Stephen Guarino and Kit Williamson’s real-life husband, John Halbach.
“The Daytime Emmy Awards are at the vanguard of the indie TV revolution, and I think it’s amazing that they have expanded the categories for digital series this year,” said Williamson upon hearing of the nominations. “We’re incredibly grateful to be recognized with this many nominations!”
The third season of EastSiders follows Cal (Williamson) and Thom (Hansis) on their cross-country mis-adventures. It was shot on location in multiple cities across the country and features a slew of notable names including Constance Wu from ABC’s Fresh Off The Boat, Wilson Cruz, Willam Belli, Max Emerson and Gus Kentworthy’s bf Matt Wilkas.
The series has already earned two Indie Series Awards for Best Ensemble, as well as the Queerty Award for Best Digital Series and the LA Weekly Web Award for Best Drama.
The third season was all made possible from a Kickstarter campaign that raised over a quarter of a million dollars from eager fans.
“We have to thank our incredible fanbase for their support and Netflix for exposing the series to a huge, international audience,” continues Williamson. “The positive response from all around the world has been beyond anything we could have hoped for.”
All three seasons of EastSiders have been translated into more than two dozen languages. In addition to Netflix and DVD, the series is available worldwide through WolfeOnDemand.com and Vimeo, as well as through various streaming services in the USA and Canada including Amazon Video, Google Play and iTunes.
